One Loop Portrait a Week by Romain Laurent

One Loop Portrait a Week by Romain Laurent

These playfully unexpected portraits seem to have a life of their own. For One Loop Portrait a Week, artist Romain Laurent produces a weekly, looped image featuring subjects doing curiously interesting things. Hair, books, or flowing scarves cover the faces of the mostly faceless people and, as a result, viewers will quickly become entranced by the rhythmic repetition of book pages turning or hair blowing in the wind.
The New York-based artist is known for his cleverly quirky projects that show theworld a bit off balance or a surfer floating out of place along the streets of New York. He says, "As most of my photography projects follow a long process from inception to final touches, I started this project with the idea to create or find again some personal rythm and spontaneity which are sometimes hard to maintain while working on bigger scale ideas."
